It’s that time of year again. As the leaves fall and the holidays approach, there’s one thing many people forget about until it’s too late: their extended health benefits.
Most insurance companies reset extended health benefits on December 31st. That means any unused portion of your coverage simply disappears when the calendar year ends. You’ve paid for these benefits through your premiums or your employer’s plan. Don’t leave money on the table!
What Can You Use Your Benefits For?
If you have remaining coverage, now is the perfect time to book with our team at New West Wellness Centre. We offer:
- Registered Massage Therapy (RMT): Relieve tension, reduce stress, and support recovery from injuries or long hours at a desk.
- Chiropractic Care: Address back pain, neck pain, headaches, and joint concerns.
- Physiotherapy: Rebuild strength, improve mobility, and recover from injury with a personalized treatment plan.
- Acupuncture: Support pain relief, stress management, and overall well-being.
- Custom Orthotics: Support your feet, knees, hips, and lower back with orthotics made for you. Many plans cover orthotics separately from your treatment coverage, so this could be extra benefit money you haven’t touched yet.
- Counselling: Take care of your mental health with support from a professional counsellor.
Why Book Now?
Our appointments fill up quickly in November and December as patients rush to use their benefits before year-end, and the holiday season makes schedules even tighter. Booking early is the best way to secure your preferred practitioner and appointment time.
Spreading appointments over the next two months can also help you get the most out of your coverage. Many plans have per-visit maximums, so several sessions between now and December 31st may let you use more of your remaining balance.
Not Sure How Much Coverage You Have Left?
Check with your insurance provider or plan administrator today. Most providers offer an online portal or mobile app where you can quickly see:
- How much coverage remains for each service
- Any per-visit maximums
- Whether a doctor’s referral or prescription is required (this is common for custom orthotics)
We Make It Easy with Direct Billing
When you book, simply add your extended health plan details to your intake form and we can bill your provider directly for eligible treatments. If your plan covers only part of a treatment, we’ll charge the remaining balance to the card on file and email you a receipt. Orthotics are paid at the time of purchase; we’ll give you a receipt to submit to your extended health plan. How direct billing works
