Massage Therapy FAQs

Do I need a doctor’s referral for massage therapy?

No referral is needed to book. Some extended health plans ask for a doctor’s note before they will pay for massage, so check your plan.

Do you direct bill?

Yes. We direct bill most extended health plans, plus ICBC.

Is massage covered after a car accident?

Yes. If you have an ICBC claim, massage therapy is pre-approved within the first 12 weeks after your accident, and no referral is needed. See our ICBC page for details.

What happens at my first appointment?

You will fill out a short health history form. Your RMT will ask about your concerns and goals, then treat the areas you agree on. Undress only to your comfort level; you will be covered with a sheet at all times. Tell your RMT anytime if you want more or less pressure.

Which type of massage should I book?

If you are not sure, book a registered massage therapy appointment. Your RMT will adjust the treatment to what you need that day, whether that is deep tissue work, sports massage or something more relaxing.

Do you offer TMJ (jaw) massage?

Yes. Donna Jay, RMT, offers TMJ massage for jaw tension and clenching. Learn more or book TMJ massage.

Can I get a massage while pregnant?

Yes. Our RMTs offer prenatal and postnatal massage with pregnancy cushions for comfortable positioning. See our Prenatal & Postnatal Massage page.

How long are appointments, and what do they cost?

We offer several appointment lengths. See our Prices page for current rates.
